Pub Re-opening Has International Flavour

A pub re-opening in Coleshill took on international status following a ‘hands across the sea’ celebration between two civic Mayors on both sides of the Atlantic .

Councillor Kath Johnson, the Mayor of North Warwickshire , rang in the changes this Thursday 26 August at the Bell Inn, Coleshill, following a major £100,000 internal and external refurbishment.t.

Helping her along was Mayor William. A. Bell Snr. – from the city of Birmingham, Alabama in the ‘deep South’ of the United States of America .

Mayor Bell beamed a video message of congratulations to coincide with Coleshill town crier Jim Pearman’s ‘ding dong’ announcement of the official opening.

Nearly 200 sizzling speciality Cookhouse sausage meals were given away to customers at The Bell Inn to celebrate the pubs official reopening. Andy Wilkinson, managing director of Clover Taverns, explained:  “Cookhouse sausages - our famous speciality dish - are no ordinary sausages.  All Cookhouse sausages are freshly made on the premises in the pub’s very own sausage making machine.  A variety of recipes and flavours is available and customers can even choose the number of sausages they would like to match their appetite.”

North Warwickshire Mayor Kath Johnston said: “Clover Taverns are to be congratulated on the improvements made at The Bell Inn. The facilities are obviously well planned to service the needs of a cross-section of the local community.”

Local MP Dan Byles, who has a transatlantic achievement of his own to his credit, though of a different kind - rowing the ocean in an open boat, also popped in to enjoy a sausage meal. He commented: “The Bell Inn has all the best features of a traditional British pub and its sausages are delicious!”
