Dan Meets Thatcher at Fillongley Show

'Dan Meets Thatcher'. It sounds like one of those classic headlines but all wasn't quite what it seemed at the Fillongley Show yesterday.

Dan Blyes, MP for North Warwickshire was joined by volunteers and local Councillors to take his place in the stocks to raise money for the Air Ambulance. Visitors to the Show took turns to pelt the new MP and others, including Coleshill Councillor Peter Fowler and Bedworth Councillor Damon Brown, with wet sponges with all proceeds going to the local Air Ambulance charity.

So did the new MP for North Warwickshire meet former Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher at the show? Actually no. Also at the Show was a display of thatching skills and new MP Dan met local craftsmen, including the thatcher demonstrating the skills involved in creating a thatched roof..

Speaking about the Show local Councillor Peter Fowler said,

"The Fillongley Show is a local institution and it was great to be there in the glorious weather yesterday. The good weather guaranteed a good tuirnout and it is great to see the animals in the agricultural classes as well as all of the local craftsmen and equestrian events taking place. Dan and local Conservatives have been raising money for the Air Ambulance at a number of events this year and it has proven a great way to meet people as well as raise money for a very good cause."
